SenDerrick Marks cleared to begin offseason work

On the 10th and final day of Organized Team Activities, DT SenDerrick Mark was cleared to return to individual workouts. This marks the first time that Marks has seen the field since ending a second straight season with a serious injury.

Marks led the team in sacks in 2014, with 8.5 on the season. For a defensive tackle to lead the team in sacks, it just goes to show how poor the exterior pass rush has been for the past couple of years. Marks tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) at the end of the 2014 season, which caused him to miss the first 5 games of 2015. After returning for 4 games, Marks suffered a torn bicep, which capped another injury-ending year.

The return of Marks should help what was one of the worst defensive teams in the NFL last season. With newly-acquired free agent Malik Jackson expected to start in Marks' spot, he'll have to make his presence felt on obvious passing situations and sub-packages.

“My job is to make sure I get back to the level of game I was playing before I got hurt,” said Marks. “After that, it’s just being a veteran and making sure everybody’s on the same page."
